Cale Vincent Mallard (b. 2006) is a 19-year-old painter living and working in Sydney, Australia. Working across painting, drawing, and graffiti, his practice blends street sensibility with personal storytelling. His style—documented on Instagram @calemallard—is bold, raw, and emotionally charged, moving fluidly between expressive figures, symbolic repetition, and layered compositions. Whether using spray paint, crayon, or brush, Cale builds a visual language that feels both immediate and reflective.
Cale draws from his own world and the current world to create storylines puzzled together in each work. His paintings often hold coded narratives, where emotion, memory, and commentary meet in a single frame. Without having had a single solo show to date, his work has already reached collectors nationally and internationally—a testament to its resonance and individuality.
His upcoming solo debut, ‘Zebra,’ opens later this year in Surry Hills, Sydney. The show presents a new body of work that narrates Cale’s lived experiences through his signature visual style. The title Zebra is a metaphor: it urges people to be proud of their stripes, even when they feel like they’re standing among horses. It also gestures toward the cultural symbolism of zebras—individuality, unity, and survival through difference. Zebra marks a major step in Cale’s journey, offering a stripped-back but defiant statement of self.
